There is no doubt this has been one of the hottest summers in a very long time. But just a few weeks ago all the Piedmont Housing Authority families had the chance to cool off at the Clyde H. Pike Civic Center swimming pool.

Keith Word, Executive Director of the Piedmont Housing Authority said that his agency was proud to provide our families a party at the swimming pool with plenty of pizza, water, and soft drinks that were compliments of the local Authority.

Word said that he was thankful to Mayor Brian Young, the Piedmont City Council, Jeff Formby, and Craig Russell for allowing the Housing Authority families to use the pool free of charge on a Sunday afternoon after the pool had closed for the summer.

Word said he was also grateful to Carley Miller and Cole Bannister for working as life guards for that afternoon also paid by the local authority. Word sent a special thank you out Derrick and Amanda Kiser and Scott Maddox for serving as chaperons for the pool party. Word also provided his equipment and music for the pool party that was held from 1:00 to 4:00 P. M. on that Sunday afternoon. Word said everything went great and everyone had a lot of fun including and moms and dads who were able to attend the party.
