Many cities, including Piedmont, will not apply city taxes in order to help parents as well. It is important to know what is and is not exempt from taxes during the holiday. For example, clothing over $100 and accessories are taxable. Computers, software and supplies are exempt from taxes if it is a single purchase with a sales price of $750 or less. Most all school supplies are tax exempt as long as they are under $50. School books under $30 are exempt as well.
