The local Piedmont Housing Authoirty Director stays very busy with many, many activities in and around the city of Piedmont. The Director does more than just rent brick buildings to those less fortunate, elderly, handicapped, or elderly.

Keith Word, Executive Director of the local agency now for over twenty years, was asked to stop by the local Piedmont Head Start to take the opportunity to read to their children. Word gladly accepted the offer and read to all the students who attend the local Head Start in Piedmont located behind the old Southside Elementary School.

Word said the children were just adorable and each of the teachers so very supportive. Word not only read to the kids but asked if they knew what the Piedmont Housing Authority was; how many different kinds of fish were in the oceans; and made the reading part fun by discussing the pages one by one with the group of children. Word said this age of children is so important that we teach them about the world around them and even more important that they get a good jump start into education to be ready for kindergarten and the first grade. Education is the key to all ages for any success in today’s world said Word.

Have you, or someone you know, received help from the Piedmont Benevolence Center in the past year?
