Funeral services for Barbara Ann Pierce, 65, of Piedmont were Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Ballew officiating and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Pierce died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin E. Pierce of Piedmont; five children, Vicki Hall (Kelvin) of Anniston, David Pierce (Lana) of Piedmont, Lee Pierce (Vicki) of Jacksonville, Kevin Pierce and Jerri Pierce both of Piedmont; eleven grandchildren, Casey Hall, Brad Hall, Brandon Pierce, Heather Pierce, Ricky Pierce, Patrick Gray, Dexter Mundy, Codie Pierce, Tyler Pierce, Emily Pierce and Andrew Strickland; two sisters, Diane Dutton and Sue McGatha (Daniel) all of Piedmont; one brother, Wade Sprouse (Janet) of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Casey Hall, Brad Hall, Brandon Pierce, Patrick Gray, Dexter Mundy and Michael McGatha. Honorary pallbearers were Codie Pierce, Tyler Pierce and Andrew Strickland.

Mrs. Pierce was a native and lifelong resident of the Piedmont area. She was a homemaker, loved raising and caring for her shih-tzu puppies and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxanne Pierce; and by her parents, Buster and Eunice Sprouse.
