Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at West End Baptist Church for Margie Stewart Langston Mitchell, 90, Gadsden, who died February 28, 2010. Reverend Leon McCoy will officiate. Burial at Highland Cemetery in Piedmont. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mitchell was saved at 12 years of age, baptized with her husband Ollie in 1948 in Little Will’s Creek and served the Lord for the rest of her life. She was a member of West End Baptist Church since 1948 where she was active and helped in all capacities. She owned and operated Margie’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years and was a past matron in the Alabama City Order of the Eastern Star # 345. Mrs. Mitchell was an avid seamstress, gardener and Atlanta Braves fan. She loved to bake and decorate birthday and wedding cakes. She was loved and respected by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was a great caregiver to everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Ollie Robert Langston, James Harry Mitchell, husband of 7 years, daughter Marcella Elaine Langston, daughter –in-law Carol Sweet Langston, parents Allie Armstrong Stewart and Minnie Inez Savage Stewart, four brothers: Herbert, Raymond, John Morgan and Martin Losson Stewart.

She is survived by her children Gordon Stanley Langston, Mary L. (Larry) Sitz, Wanda L. (Charles, Sr.) Bowen, step daughter Jane Mitchell, grandchildren Stanley Ray (Martha) Langston, April Sitz (Michael) Blakeney, Steven DWayne (Kristy) Langston, Louis Dixon (Stacie) Bush, Daniel Lee Sitz, John Wesley Bowen, step grandson Charles E. (Suzan) Bowen, Jr., step granddaughters Linville Thorpe and Sally Thorpe. Great grandchildren Tyler Louis Bush, Jeremy Ray Langston, Christian Michael Blakeney, Chandler Lee Bush, Brooklon Paige Langston, Mason Wayne Martin Blakeney, Emily Jo Langston, Christopher Paul Langston, Zoe Lynn Langston, Emma Leane Bush, David Lee Langston, step great grandson Joseph Blair Johnson, step great granddaughters Kaitlin Suzanne Marsinko, and Jasmine Catherine Frazzetto, brother Ollie Armstrong Stewart, host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends Clyde Stone and W.T. Gossett.

Special thanks to Comfort Care Hospice nurses and staff, Erma Sue Lowery, Phillis Carroll, Kathy Day, Ann Turner, Ervin Horton family, Alva and Hilda Hicks, church family and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Ray Shockley.

Mrs. Mitchell will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to invite friends to the dove release outside the church following the service.
