Nov. 19 the regular Thanksgiving luncheon of the first Baptist Church Sunshine Club was held in the fellowship hall.

Jamie Forester, minister to the senior adults accompanied by his wife Tracey led the group in singing "Give Thanks." Jamie then prayed the opening prayer.

President Ramon Feazell welcomed visitors Pat Morrison, Mary Harris, and Linda Hollingsworth along with fifty members. Prayer requests were many. Danny Pointer prayed for those mentioned. Truly God is a mighty Lord.

Ramon recognized the decorating committee consisting of Doug Borden, Raymond and Carolyn Feazell, Doyce and Lennie White.

Ramon also recognized the kitchen committee for the good job they do all year. They are Robbie Smith, Lil Haslam, Mildred Gresham, Faye Parker, and Maxine Simmons.

Jamie reminded all about the functions connected with being a Sunshineer. The SOS has regrouped. This is serving all seniors. Twice a month those involved take goody bags to area hospital waiting rooms and pass them out to those waiting news of their family members. Once a month there is a visit to a nursing home with a short devotion and singing. The Sunshine choir meets each Tuesday morning at 8:30 in the choir room. On Senior Sunday the choir takes the music to the church audience. The Sunshine Club is a dedicated group that enjoys serving others.

Ramon played a tape by Mark Ivey using the old hymn "Leaning on the everlasting arms." By changing the beat we heard this old favorite as it would possibly sound to the beat of 40's to today. Swing, rock & roll, jazz, pop, country, western, even rap. Think about it, very interesting.

Birthday celebrants were Rebecca Greer, Robbie Smith, Pep Waits, Ted McDowell, Nettie Minton, Anita Sparks, Jerry Dempsey, Faye Rutherford, Diane Bates, Rachel Kirby, Mary Norton, and Mary Edna Naugher. Boy that's a list.

Bro Phillip had a few words to say on Thanksgiving. After reading Luke 17 about Jesus healing the ten lepers, only one returned to thank Jesus for his healing. Give thanks.

Doug Bordens devotion was an interesting one giving many points to ponder. His title was "Thank God that I can Thank God." Doug used Psalms 104 then two poems.

Bro Phillip dismissed the meeting and asked blessings on the bountiful meal to follow.

The Sunshine Club had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
