ADKISON

Funeral services for James Michael "Skinny" Adkison, 65, of Piedmont were Saturday at 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Kipp McClurg and Bro. Eddie Lindsey officiating. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery. Mr. Adkison died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at his home.

Survivors include two aunts, Lovie Kirkpatrick (Lawerence) of Piedmont and Jewell Adkison of Spring Garden; and a host of cousins. Pallbearers were Bobby Tucker, Jerry Thacker, Ronnie Kirkpatrick, Joe Van Kirkpatrick, Dennis Grissom, and Ricky Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were the Frank Wofford Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont.

Mr. Adkison was a Calhoun County native and a Piedmont resident. He attended the First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Frank Wofford Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 98, Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge # 97 F&AM, and the Piedmont Lions Club. Mr. Adkison was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Adkison.

HACKNEY

Funeral services for Miss Jillian "Jill" L. Hackney, age 23 of Piedmont, will be conducted on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. from the Memory Chapel of the Folsom Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. prior to the services. Miss Hackney died Monday in Anniston.

Miss Hackney was born on May 14, 1986 in Floyd County, Ga., the daughter of Lewis Edward & Farol Annice Goss Hackney. Prior to ill health, she was employed with Hon of Cedartown and the Subway Sandwich Shop of Piedmont. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Fred & Iris Goss and Lewis Hackney, Sr. She was an avid Alabama fan.

Survivors include her parents, Lewis & Farol Hackney. Her fiance, Jason Mitchell McFry. Two sons, Owen Jason McFry and James Cole McFry. Three sisters; Sarah Katherine Burkhalter, Meridith Brewster, and Laura Hackney. Two brothers; John and James Hackney. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. HERRING

Services for Clara Mae Herring, 78, of Piedmont were Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Wellspring Church of God with Rev. David Gifford officiating and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of arrangements. Burial followed at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Herring died November 20, 2009 at Long Term Hospital in Anniston.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Janice McFry (Fain) of Piedmont, Patty Alexander (Tim) of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Teresa Herring Maddox of Piedmont; six grandchildren, Melissa Steele, Scotty McFry, Christopher McFry, Teri Wilson, Justin Roach and Darrin McGatha; 9 great-grandchildren, Emily Acker, Paige Acker, Cobey McFry, Chloe McFry, Anthony Roach, Ajae Roach, Ethan Wilson, Adison Wilson and Jacob Wilson and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Greg Bates, Davy Harcrow, Donald Harcrow, Tony Wood, Victor Herring and Michael Herring.

Mrs. Herring was a resident of Piedmont , a member of Wellspring Church of God and a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Doyal Miller Herring, two brothers, Shorty Harcrow and Franklin Harcrow.

MACKEY

Funeral services for Jordan Craig Mackey, 19, of Gnatville were Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Randy Haynes officiating. Jordan died Monday, November 16, 2009 in Cherokee County.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Julie and David Blevins of Gnatville; his father, John Mackey of Centre; sister, Bree Blevins of Gnatville; brother, Jonathan "Aaron" Mackey of Jesup, Ga; grandfather, Cecil Gilley of Gnatville; grandmother, Gail Mackey of Centre; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. Pallbearers were Joey Stowe, Lee Roberts, Justin Roberts, Josh Goss, Darrell Mackey, Tim Mackey and Jonathan "Aaron" Mackey.

Jordan was a 2008 graduate of Cherokee County High School. He loved the outdoors, four wheelers, motorcycles, mud riding and monster trucks. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Lois Gilley; and a grandfather, Emzell Mackey.

MADDOX

Funeral services for Earnest Edward Maddox, age 92 of Piedmont, were conducted on Thursday November 19, 2009 at 7 p.m. from the Memory Chapel of Folsom Funeral Home with Rev. Danny English, Rev. Jerry Pike, and Rev. Tom Barber officiating. Interment was on Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Piedmont Memory Gardens.

Survivors include his children Syble (Ed) Davis, Betty (Terry) Young, Christine (Stanley) McFry, Merita (Roger) Simmons, Randall (Mary) Maddox; grandchildren Pam (David) Chapman, Mona (Tony) Clark, Cindy (James) Kiser, Donald (Carolann) McFry, Rev. Tom (Jaime) Barber, Christy (Don) Roberts, Brandon Maddox and Dustin Maddox; sister, Louise Weaver; brother, Clifford Maddox; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Maddox was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Maddox in 2005, by a daughter, Willie Matthews in 2005, and a granddaughter, Susan Prince in 1985.

WILLIAMS

Funeral services for Faye Howard Williams, 82, was Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. Bill Caudle officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Williams died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Williams of Piedmont; two daughters, Peggy (Butch) Cross of Jacksonville and Joanne (Randy) Harcrow of Piedmont; a sister, Willett "Boo" Easterwood of Buhl; nine grandchildren, Kim, Kelly, Kristy, Greg, Dennis, Tammi, Heath, Haylee and Brandi; 13 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Mrs. Williams was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of West Side Baptist Church.
