GARNER

Mrs. Shirley Ann Garner, 59, of Piedmont, died Friday, October 23, 2009, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Garner was born on March 14, 1950, the daughter of the late Harlan Shell Sr. Survivors include her mother, Jeanette Badgett Shell, daughters Tonya and Tina Shell, sons Tracey and Shane Shell and Caleb Garner, brothers Roger and Harlan Shell, Jr.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by her father, Harlan Shell, Sr., and brothers Michael and Freddie Shell.

Memorial services for Mrs. Garner were conducted on Monday October 26, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Stewart and Rev. Jack Morgan officiating. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.folsomfhandcemetery.com.

McLEOD

Funeral services for Sandra Goley McLeod, 59, of Jacksonville were Monday at noon at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Truman Norred officiating. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. McLeod died Friday, November 7, 2009 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, James E. McLeod; two daughters, Tammey Bussell of Biloxi, Mississippi and Michelle Bray of Long Beach, Mississippi; one son, James M. "Mike" McLeod of Leesburg; seven grandchildren, Ashlee Willingham, Landon Bray, Sierra Eileen Bray, Emilee Conway, Amber McLeod, Amanda McLeod and Logan McLeod; one great-grandchild, Bryson Willingham; one brother, Alfred Goley, Jr. (Lynn) of Wilmington, Ohio; and her beloved pet, Maggie. Jacksonville Fire Department served as pallbearers.

Mrs. McLeod was born in Bell County, Ky. She had been a resident of Jacksonville most of her life and was a long time employee of Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Faye Goley; one sister, Rose Branch; and one brother, Ivan Goley.

MOORE

Bobby Hershel Moore, 84, Bremen, Ga., passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009. He was born February 26, 1925, in Piedmont to the late Oliver and Sarah Jane Hulsey Moore.

Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as Signalman 3rd Class. He participated in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaigns aboard the U.S.S. Lackawanna from November 1943 through August 1946. After his discharge from the Navy, he began his studies at Jacksonville State University. He left school to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a Master Sergeant. After his discharge, he completed his B.S. in Business Administration and Economics at Jacksonville State in 1952.

He married Mary Rose Propes on March 17, 1951. After receiving his degree, he and Rose moved to Bremen, Ga., and he began his 33-year career with Plantation Pipeline. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bremen, where he faithfully served as a deacon and chairman of deacons, choir member, R.A. leader and on pastor search committees. He served on the Bremen City School Board for 12 years. He was a member of the Downstreamers Club, comprised of retired Plantation Pipeline employees. He volunteered for the American Cancer Society and served as a volunteer for many years with Haralson County Ministries.

Bobby Moore was a great husband, father and friend. He loved and enjoyed his family, church and his town. He treasured everyone in Bremen and likewise was loved by all who knew him. His godly, faithful example and great sense of humor will be deeply missed.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Agatha Moore Amberson; brother, William Dirrell Moore; and son-in-law, Conal Barrow.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Moore; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Allison Moore of Peachtree City, Ga.; daughters and son-in-law, Tamara Barrow of Bremen, Rosemary and Richard Barrett of Bremen; sisters, Ruth Gilpatrick of Greenville, Ala., Gladys Nabors of Weaver, Ala.; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Moore Harwell and husband Josh, Mary Beth Moore, Katie Barrow, Kristie Barrow, Eddie Barrett and wife Sarah, Sallie Barrett and Susie Barrett.

Services were Oct. 10 at Bremen First Baptist Church. Ministers participating in the service were Dr. Keith Moore, Rev. Dan McPherson, Dr. Alan Posey, Dr. David Howard and Rev. Bobby Robinson. Music was furnished by Rev. Andy Fowler and the church choir accompanied by Sara Calhoun and Sue Ezzell. Pallbearers were Johnny Barrett, Cliff Coats, Ed Hogan, Mike Murphy, Dale Nix and Randy Pate. Honorary pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church deacons and Plantation Pipeline employees and retirees. Interment was in Bremen City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at 331Pacific Avenue, Bremen, GA 30110. Hightower Funeral Home, Bremen, was in charge.

MOTES

Funeral services for Mrs. Ollie Edwena Motes, 86, of Piedmont were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Motes died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Piedmont Healthcare Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ledbetter and Effie Fuqua, both of Piedmont; sons, Gene Motes (Sue) of Jacksonville, Edgar Motes (Linda) and Dan Motes all of Piedmont and Charles Motes of Montgomery; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one brother, Billy H. Deffenbaugh. Pallbearers were grandsons.

Mrs. Motes was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was a homemaker, enjoyed writing gospel and country songs, gardening and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Howard Sparks Motes. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

NAUGHER

Funeral services for Gerald Rene "Jerry" Naugher, 52, of Piedmont were Sunday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory. Mr. Naugher died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Naugher; five children, Jaida Cowser (Robert), Glen Naugher and Jessica Little (Jesse) all of Piedmont, Carrie Brooks (Jeff) of Anniston and Corey Ramsey (Hollie) of Jacksonville; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Tamara Kirby of Leesburg and Denita Holbrook (Robert) of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Naugher was a Piedmont native and resident. He was a graduate of Piedmont High School and served in the United States Navy for 10 years. He had been an employee of the Anniston Army Depot for the past 22 years. He enjoyed cave exploring, repelling, diving, four wheeling and canoeing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Doris Naugher; brother, Dana Naugher and nephews, Jeremy Brock and Shane Hunt.

PAGE

Mr. Wilton Page, 71, of Piedmont, died Monday November 2, 2009 in Gadsden.

A native of Graves County, Ky., Mr. Page was born on August 18, 1938. Mr. Page was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Asberry Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Page in 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Barber Page; daughter Cynthia (Johnny) Weaver, Pleasant Valley; son, Wilton Christopher (Cindy) Page, Piedmont; step-daughters, Marianne (Jeff) Arensmeyer, Anniston and Christy (Dennis) Bacon, Huntsville; step-son, Jon Hart, Anniston; sister, Diane Grey, Mayfield, Ky; twin brother, Milton Page, Mayfield, Ky; grandchildren: Wendy Boozer, Beverly Weaver, Misty Fortenberry, Tamara Knowles, Mileena Arensmeyer, Jordan Bacon and Matthew Bacon; six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Thursday November 5, 2009 at 1 p.m. from the Memory Chapel of Folsom Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Clingan officiating. Burial with military honors was at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville.

REAVES

Funeral service for John Curtis Reaves, 75, was at noon Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Pate and the Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Mr. Reaves died Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at RMC in Anniston.

He is survived by three daughters, Diane (Danny) Malsy, of Piedmont, Becky Price, of Jacksonville, and Shirley (Perre) Ward, of Saks; three sons, Joe Reaves, of Glencoe, Michael (Jeannie) Reaves, of Piedmont and Darryl (Rhonda) Reaves, of Pleasant Valley; two sisters, Dorothy Murray and Flora McCrellas, both of Jacksonville; one brother, Donald (Joan) Reaves, of Augusta, Ga; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends and family. Mr. Reaves was a member of Word of Life Worship Center. He was a great father and grandfather who loved and adored his family and his two dogs, Peanut and Pris. Mr. Reaves will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nettie Reaves; three brothers, William Reaves, Clay Reaves and Edward Reaves; one sister, Eunice Bundrum; and his parents, Levi and Hettie Reaves.
