Memorial services for Phillip Henry Baker, 60, of Piedmont were Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Rodney McInnis officiating. Mr. Baker died Monday, October 26, 2009 at his home. Survivors include a sister, Vickie Glover (Rickey) of Piedmont; a niece, Jessica Rhinehart (Johnny); a nephew, Matt Glover (Magan); and great niece and nephews, Jake and Luke Rhinehart and Jaycee and Nick Glover.
Mr. Baker was born in Panama City, Fla. He graduated from Piedmont High School and received a degree in sociology from Jacksonville State University. He was employed with the State of Alabama his entire career, first with the Opportunity Center in Anniston and later with the Calhoun/Cleburne Mental Health Center as director of Action Industries. He was a U.S.Air Force veteran where he served as an air traffic controller in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing and history.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a son, Hank Baker; his parents, Clarence and Imogene Baker; and a brother, Steve Baker. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O.Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272.
DIAMOND
Mrs. Alicia Thompson Diamond died on Saturday, October 31st, 2009 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Diamond is survived by her husband, Mr. Johnny M. Diamond; one sister, Judy Thompson; and five brothers, Donald Thompson (Rosie Lee), Frank Thompson (Mary), James Thompson (Pearlie), and Randall Thompson (Olivia). Mrs. Diamond was predeceased by one sister, Shirley Ellis.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m. at St. Luke Holiness Church with the Pastor Weatherly officiating. The burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Folsom Funeral Home will be in charge of the services.
