I have just completed seven months of therapy after having shingles. It really left me in bad shape with lots of pain and not able to use my left hand.

David and Peggy Wilhoite of Oxford were my therapists. They are shown with the other workers on my last day of therapy. A shirt can be seen in the background. I had to try and learn to fasten the buttons on it.

My instructor was Scott Whitney. We called him Curley (because he had no hair). He tried to teach me a lot but said it has been very tough because my muscles were damaged so bad. I just hope some day I will regain the use of my left hand and the pain will stop.

You sure don't want this disease. We just don't appreciated good health until it's gone.

Shingles' official name is herpes zoster. It is a painful, blistering skin rash due to acute infection with the varicella-zoster virus, the virus that causes chickenpox.

I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Anniston Eastern Bypass. The Eastern Bypass will connect I20 at Golden Springs with Alabama 21. It will be eight miles long.

Gov. Bob Riley climbed on a bulldozer to move the first dirt on the bypass. Riley said the view along the Bypass was one of the most attractive in the state. He said you couldn't find a more beautiful view in Alabama. Stimulus money is being used to finish the Bypass.

Have you, or someone you know, received help from the Piedmont Benevolence Center in the past year?
