Funeral services for Mrs. Tina K. Dempsey, 84, of Piedmont were Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with Mr. Dean Beard, Mr. Shane Clark and Mr. Jimmy Kennedy officiating. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Dempsey died Monday, October 5, 2009 at her home.
She is survived by a daughter, Rita Dempsey Baker of Piedmont; a son-in-law, Franklin McGee of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Penny Steinmeyer (Greg) of Lexington, S.C., Anthony Baker and Christi Baker Johnson (Rod) all of Piedmont and Rebecca Cabrer (Peter) of Jacksonville; five great grandchildren, Meagan Cabrer, Andrew Johnson, Nick Johnson, Chloe Cabrer and Eli Johnson; one sister, Dorothy Spearman of Felton, Ga. and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Anthony Baker, Andrew Johnson, Rod Johnson, Peter Cabrer, Tony Garmon, Richard Pollard, Ken Pollard and Steve Pollard.
Mrs. Dempsey was a native and lifelong resident of the Piedmont area. She was a graduate of Piedmont High School, was a member of the Piedmont Church of Christ, enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, writing short children's stories and reading her Bible daily. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Dempsey and a daughter, Dyna D. McGee and a son-in-law, Jerry Baker. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O.
