The services were opened by Pastor Tim Smith and Brother Michael Anderson who introduced the quartet which included Mark Garrett, lead singer; Mark Lumpkin, tenor; Jason Taylor, baritone; and Greg Gober, bass. This was the third year in a row that the quartet has sung at homecoming and the crowd was excited to hear them again.
After several songs the service was turned over to the guest preacher, Brother Jerry Dyer, who spoke on the prodigal son in his sermon. After the message and prayer everyone gathered together for a time of food and fellowship. After lunch the congregation and guests returned to the Sanctuary where the Youth Drama Team performed "Now Behold the Lamb."
Performing members of the drama team included: Kristy Smith, leader; Shawna and Cody Penland; Brittni Downey; Mitchell Ray; Laura and Andrew Posey; Tyler Lucas; and Candace Gilmore. Others who sang before the church were: Louise Kerns, Angela Lucas and Ansley Stephens, and Kristy Smith, Laura Posey, Shawna Penland and Brittni Downey, as well as Brother John who gave a beautiful rendition of "The Lord's Prayer."
After the church singers concluded the congregation was blessed again with a performance by The Heirborn Quartet, which sang original songs from their new CD "Genuine." Lead singer Mark Garrett closed the service by giving his testimony of the hardships of the last year while performing "I've Not Seen a Mountain," a very meaningful song about trials and tribulations and how God can help us make it through them.
