Memorial services for Ryan Conley Kimmerling, 35, of Piedmont were held Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with Brother Michael Anderson officiating. Mr. Kimmerling died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at University Hospital in Birmingham.
Survivors include his wife, Lynne Anderson Kimmerling; three children, Drake Kincade Kimmerling, Tanner Cole Kimmerling and Kahlyn Abigale Kimmerling all of Piedmont; parents, Bill and Pat Kimmerling of Centre; three sisters, Leann Brogdon (Jon) of Anderson, Ind., Kathy Black (O'Neal) of Fort Payne and Lisa Gibbs (Steve) of Collinsville; one brother, Mike Kimmerling (Melissa) of Sand Rock; and several nieces, nephews and other family members. Pallbearers were Bill Kimmerling, Mike Kimmerling, Mark Warren, Adam McDuff, Tim Money and Dr. Tom Leach. Honorary Pallbearers were nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kimmerling was born in Muncie, Ind. He was a graduate of Cherokee County High School and was a former employee of Palm Harbor Homes. He enjoyed building model cars, listening to music and wood working. He was preceded in death by a son, Hayden KyrieEleison Kimmerling. Eugene Westbrook
Eugene Westbrook, 82, Portland, Tenn., went to his heavenly home on Sept. 8, 2009 as his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret Livingston Westbrook, held him in her arms as Jesus gently took his hand and took him across the Jordan River to a land flowing with milk and honey to walk the streets of pure gold with Him forever. At the gates made of pearls were his dad and mom, Bob and Maude Smart Westbrook, his only brother PFC Huey M. Westbrook and seven sisters.
He will be waiting for his wife Margaret, daughter Jan W. Ragan, both of Portland, Tenn., son Troy E. Westbrook of Smyrna, Tenn., two granddaughters, one grandson, four step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister Lois Taylor, Centre.
Funeral service was held at his church, The Portland Church of God of Prophecy with pastor Ed Ferrell and his grandson, Brandon Westbrook, officiating.
The Westbrooks were born and raised in Piedmont, but moved to Huntsville in 1964 where they lived and worked until both retired and moved to Portland, Tenn., in 2000.
Eugene worked for the founder and owner of The Piedmont Journal, Mr. Austin Johnson, with his brother-in-law Randy Taylor from 1945 to 1953. He has friends, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in;law, nieces and nephews living in Piedmont that will miss him.
He was buried in Old Brush Cemetery in Portland, Tenn.
