Monday was a doubly difficult day for James Blanchard and his Piedmont baseball team. The scheduled doubleheader with Cherokee County was canceled, not once but twice. The two games were initially set for Piedmont. When Blanchard called Cherokee County coach Jim Garmany around 11 a.m. to tell him it was too wet to play in Piedmont, Garmany suggested playing in Centre and Blanchard accepted. Then, just before the Piedmont players boarded the bus to head to Centre, Garmany called and said the Cherokee County field was also too wet to play. “We went inside and practiced. Everybody was kind of bummed though. Everybody wanted to play,” Blanchard said.
