Services for William “Bill” Earl Phillips, 75, of Piedmont were Sunday, March 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Rodney Ragsdale and Rev. Jay Daugherty officiating. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Phillips died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include five sisters, Peggy Sue Shaw (Wayne) of Hokes Bluff, Catherine Newton McFry (Frank) and Sharon Anthony all of Piedmont, Martha Owens (Jerry) of Centre and Mary Jo Phillips of Cedartown, Georgia; four brothers, Billy C. Phillips (Joann) of Cedartown, Georgia, Nathaniel Phillips (Anita), Douglas Phillips (Linda), and Jerry Phillips (Mary) all of Piedmont; one daughter, Cathy Phillips of Texas and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were family and friends.

Pallbearers were Tony Phillips, Mike Martin, Nathaniel Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Tony Rhinehart and James Barber.

Mr. Phillips was a native of Piedmont and had been a resident of Texas for many years before returning to Piedmont in 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Phillips; son, Kevin Phillips; parents, Orban and Monteen Rogers Phillips; grandparents, Ollie and Tecota Rogers and Jim and Vylette Phillips.
