Rogers receives award from U.S. Chamber

04-29-2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the sixth year in a row, Congressman Mike Rogers was presented last week with the “Spirit of Enterprise Award” from the United States Chamber of Commerce, an award which is given to members of Congress who have a strong voting record in support of small business issues.

Rogers said he was deeply honored to receive the award once again, and thanked small business owners across East Alabama for their effort and initiative in our economy. He called small businesses the “lifeblood of East Alabama” and said he would continue to do all he could to support legislation that helps keep taxes low and government regulations at bay.

“East Alabama’s small businesses are the foundations of our rural economy,” Congressman Rogers said. “Every year, our rural entrepreneurs help create so many new jobs which are critical to our communities.

“I am thrilled to be the recipient of this award once again, and look forward to continuing to do all I can to help support East Alabama’s small, local businesses.”

The “Spirit of Enterprise Award” is given by the U.S. Chamber to members who support legislation that encourages business growth and development. Rogers was presented the award in Anniston on April 14th.

Rogers serves on the Homeland Security Committee, Agriculture Committee and the Armed Services Committee. He said he recently voted in favor of the Economic Stimulus package that contained roughly $50 billion in support for small and medium size businesses nationwide.
