New members inducted to Honor Society

The fourteen students inducted to the Piedmont High School Honor Society were: Hanna Cooper, Tara Dawn Blanchard, Bridgette Hulsey, Melissa Seaman, Caleigh Amberson, Chase Childers, Lindsay Conner, Allyson Harper, Austyn Grissom, Kaitlyn Ledbetter, Raven Prater, Seth Reedy, Cory Sears and Andrea Thomas. Photo: Danni Lusk A few more students joined the ranks of being honored with the school’s highest academic and leadership membership. The Piedmont High School National Honor Society inducted 14 members at a ceremony on Thursday. Family members, fellow students and faculty joined in honoring the newest members by watching a candle lighting ceremony representing the four standards of membership: character, scholarship, service and leadership. The inductees bring the total membership of the Piedmont chapter to 41 members. All inductees are required to maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Principal Jerry Snow said the fact that the membership comprises about 20 percent of the student body says a lot for the caliber of students at Piedmont High School. “Just to be eligible is a feat in itself,” he said. The Piedmont chapter of the organization was founded in 1936. It is comprised of sophomore, junior and senior students.
