Piedmont police officers arrested a Piedmont man and seized an operational methamphetamine lab in a joint effort with the Alabama Department of Human Resources on Sunday night.Jesse Ray Proctor, 20, of 1027 Mack Alexander Road, was arrested for unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance I, which is a class A felony.
Officers arrived at the residence around 9 p.m. with ADHR after information was received about a suspected meth lab and drug activity at the residence, which housed an undisclosed number of “small children,” according to a press release from the Piedmont Police Department.
Corp. Matthew Thacker and Officers Jason Hammett and Ashby Jackson searched the residence and recovered the meth lab, along with numerous drug paraphernalia items and a small quantity of methamphetamine. Piedmont officers were assisted by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the Calhoun-Cleburne Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
The children were removed from the residence by ADHR and placed with a family member.
Proctor is currently being held at the Calhoun County Jail on a $300,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in district court on June 12.
