Ramon also recognized July anniversaries. They were Ronnie and Shirley Morrow, Bud and Myra Sanford, Jerry and Sue Dempsey and Norman and Margaret Jones.
Ramon introduced a young man, Rodney Denson, as our guest speaker. Rodney is 29 years old and a member of Barfield Baptist Church in Lineville. He is a business owner of Denson Enterprises LLC, which is comprised of Clay Communications, Parcel N Post, e-Link and Denson and Morris Productions.
Rodney is also a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as a medic with the 128th Medical Company of Ashland in the Baghdad area. He is a state licensed paramedic working part time at Cleburne County EMS and volunteering at the Clay County Rescue Squad.
In his spare time he has a sound system he takes around to contemporary and gospel music events. He also teaches the children’s class at his church on Sunday and Wednesday nights.
Rodney told us a little about his time stationed in the Green Zone in Baghdad. His first assignment was with the 86th Combat Hospital located in one of Saddam Hussein’s palaces. He treated insurgents, along with U.S soldiers, on a daily basis. He liked when he could see the insurgents faces after awakening to find out an American had given them the blood that saved them.
Following Rodney’s speech, Ramon filled in for Ted McDowell using John 3:16. After Ramon prayed, 40 members and the club’s guests enjoyed lunch together.
The club gained a new member, Jerry Dempsey.
