July 13

• Burglary — A resident of Oak Street reported a burglary that occurred between 8 p.m. July 11 and 7 p.m. July 13. Two pillows, a lemon pie, and a cherry pie were taken during the incident believed to have been done by an ex-boyfriend.

July 14

• Criminal possession of a forged instrument — Officers investigated a case involving a forged check valued at $21,000.

• Domestic violence (assault) — A resident of Sterling Street reported an incident that occurred around 10:15 a.m. and involved a family member.

• Harassing communications — A resident of McClellan Street reported an incident involving a step-son that occurred around 7:37 p.m.

• Theft of property — A resident of East Vanderbilt Street reported the theft of a Husky portable air compressor with radio valued at $150 was taken between 10 a.m. July 10 and 10 a.m. July 13. A family member was suspected in the incident.

July 15

• Breaking and entering a motor vehicle — A 19-year-old resident reported that her purse containing an Alabama driver’s license and bank card was taken from her vehicle while parked near the Dollar General between 7:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. A car phone charger, house phone charger, movie tickets, and $150 Saks department store card were also taken.

• Foreign recovery — A syringe, a white oblong tablet, and two cigarette wrappers containing white residue was recovered on Hamilton Drive.

• Criminal mischief — An incident occurring on the 300 block of South Harris was reported at 3:20 p.m. No further details were available.

July 16

• Harassment — A 46-year-old male resident reported an incident that occurred on Vigo Road at 1:45 p.m. A 68-year-old resident filed a similar complaint for the same time period.

• Theft of property — A resident of Babbling Brook Road reported the theft of two political signs that occurred between 7:30 p.m. July 15 and 3 p.m. July 16.

• Criminal mischief — A resident of Shady Grove Road reported a mailbox valued at $280 was destroyed between 3 p.m. July 15 and 3 p.m. July 16.

• Allowing dogs to run at large — A resident of Kelly Drive reported a neighbor was in violation of the local dog ordinance.

July 17

• Theft of property — An employee of the Piedmont City Schools reported the theft of three rolls of insulation, valued at $150 each, from the construction site at Piedmont High School.

• Criminal possession of a forged instrument — A resident of Ridge Crest Drive reported having a check forged for $100.

• Harassing communications — A resident of Hill Avenue reported receiving harassing communications.

• Found property — A blue Roadmaster mountain bike and black and orange book bag were found at 4:52 p.m. in the Westwood subdivision.

• Harassing communications — A 42-year-old male reported an incident that occurred at 4:16 p.m.

July 18

• Domestic violence — A 28-year-old female reported an incident that involved a spouse and occurred between 1 a.m. and 1:40 a.m.

• Criminal mischief — A resident of Oak Street reported $1,800 damage done to an electronic driveway gate between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m.

July 19

• Found property — A blue-green 18-speed mountain bike was found on the Chief of Police Ladiga Trail between 7 p.m. July 18 and 10:15 a.m. July 19.

• Domestic violence — A 26-year-old female reported an incident involving a family member that occurred around 1:00 a.m.

• Menacing — A 48-year-old resident of Haslam Street was the victim of an act of menacing by a neighbor.

• Harassing communications — A resident of Tuckaway Drive reported an acquaintance was involved in an incident that occurred at 11:14 a.m.

• Criminal mischief, theft of property — A business owner reported $200 damage done to a drink machine and the theft of about $5 in currency from the machine.

• Criminal mischief — A resident of Oak Street reported an incident that occurred between 8 a.m. July 17 and 12:35 p.m. July 19.

July 20

• Menacing — A resident of North Center Avenue reported an incident that occurred on Highway 278 East around 7:45 p.m. July 19.

• Burglary — A resident of North Fifth Avenue reported an incident that occurred shortly after midnight.

Arrests

• July 14: Officers arrested Tommy Morris Studdard, 22, at 2:50 p.m. and charged him with disorderly conduct. He was later released to an officer from the Jacksonville Police Department for a warrant for the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

• July 17: Officers arrested James Taylor Fortenberry, 21, at 8:21 p.m. on a warrant for failure to appear.

• July 18: Officers arrested James Marty Messer, 42, Billy Lamar Proctor, 50, and Bonnie Darlene Proctor, 32 at 10 minutes after midnight and charged them with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance.

• July 18: At 1:40 a.m., officers arrested Johnny Wesley Chastain, 28, on charges of domestic violence.

• July 18: Officers arrested Brandon Kyle Frost, 21, at 12:01 p.m. on warrants for failure to appear on charges of Theft of Property III and Receiving Stolen Property III.

• July 18: At 4:26 p.m. Preston Thomas Mitchell, 47, was arrested on warrants for failure to appear on charges of driving with a suspended license and having no proof of insurance. He also had a capias warrant (contempt of court).

• July 18: Joey Shane Messer, 36, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. on a warrant for domestic violence (harassment).

• July 19: Officers arrested Michael Glenn Gowens, 22, on warrants for failure to appear on charges of having no proof of insurance, driving with a suspended license, and seat belt violation.
